Our Birder® Tripod with Manfrotto 128RC Quick Release Head is an Audubon Shop tripod that mates the renowned Manfrotto 128RC head atop a Davis and Sanford leg assembly, and has won the praises of birders worldwide for years. This ingeniously simple design is manufactured exclusively for The Audubon Shop.
The Birder® Tripod is, as far as we know, the only tripod on the market today with two-section legs. Why are we sold on two-section legs (rather than the more common three?). It’s all about stability in the field, on the deck outside or wherever you use your scope. Two sections are significantly more stable than three.
Tripods are often overlooked in the scope purchasing experience, but they are a very important piece of the puzzle. A shaky tripod paired with even the best telescope renders the scope useless and frustrating to look through. The Birder® Tripod has been field tested across the globe on challenging terrain and and in weather conditions that run the spectrum.
The Birder® Tripod is an Audubon Shop exclusive that we’ve been marketing for about 16 years, now. Professional birding guides and birders the world over have field tested our tripods since 2000, and consistently rave about them.
The lightweight, oversized aluminum legs and center column reduce vibration better than any birding tripod (including carbon fiber) on the market – we guarantee it!
Our 23″ center column is longer than most, and extension to the maximum 20″ allows users to view birds in overhead tree canopies or celestial happenings overhead!
The Manfrotto 128RC Quick Release Micro Fluid Head features a quick release plate that allows you to detach your scope or camera with the flip of a lever. The head pans 360 degrees. Panning and tilting are ultra smooth through the entire range of motion and have allowed us to follow distant flying raptors with ease.
This head has three simple lock knobs: pan, tilt and an arm lock. The arm features soft padding and arm position is adjustable for left or right hand use.
