Description
Our Brome Squirrel Buster Finch Bird Feeder is potentially the last finch feeder that you’ll have to buy. The folks at Brome have engineered their feeders so that birds can get the seed, but squirrels can’t. As soon as a squirrel tries to land on the cage that surrounds the plastic tube, the cage slides down and the ports become covered, making them inaccessible. Made specifically for nyjer or thistle seed, a favorite of Goldfinch, with very tiny port openings.
Remember it’s the squirrel’s weight that triggers the closing mechanism. If a squirrel can reach over from a nearby foothold and avoid placing weight on the feeder, he will have access to the seed ports.
Allow for at least 18 inches of clearance around the sides of the feeder. This will force the squirrel to climb onto the feeder from above, thus triggering the closing mechanism.
